How to Highlight your Face this Summer
Summer is almost here so it’s time to GLOW UP
Summer is almost here which means it’s time to learn where to place your highlighter for the ultimate glow up! You might already know to place your highlighter on your upper cheekbones, but have you considered your collarbone or eyelids?
Check out our top tips on how to highlight your face this Summer below.
Just remember, the key to placing your highlighter is by finding any spot on your face that naturally picks up light. Here’s a checklist to begin with.
1. Cheekbones
For a lifted makeup look this Summer, apply a light layer of highlight to your cheekbones. To enhance your bone structure, make sure the highlighter is placed on the topmost ridge of your cheek bone (under the outer corner of your eye, not the apples of your cheeks).
2. The Bridge of your Nose
If you are contouring your nose, apply highlighter to the topmost ridge and contour the outer edges with a bronzer. If you want your nose to look longer, highlight it all the way down. If you want to shorten your nose, highlight ¾ of the way then blend your bronzer at the tip.
3. Cupids Bow
Just remember we use highlighter to ‘lift’ the face so applying it to your cupid’s bow will help to lift the lips and give them a fuller, more defined shape.
4. Brow Bone
We wouldn’t be Alison Jade if we didn’t tell you to highlight the outer upper most part of your brow bone. Just below the outer tail of your brow.
5. Eyelids and Inner Corners
Don’t have time to do your eyeshadow or going for a more natural look? Apply your highlighter in the centre of your eyelids and blend them. You can also try highlighter in the inner corners of your eyes. This is an area more prone to darkness so highlighting it can help you to look more ‘awake.’
6. Collarbone
As with all of the above locations, apply your highlighter to the high points of your collarbone for a Summer glow. Make sure your highlight is blended well into your skin and you’re good to go!
